Why this isn't fortune-telling

A reading is only useful if it's honest about what it is. So here is exactly what LiFire does, and what it refuses to do.

What we do

We calculate. Your Four Pillars are derived from the Chinese lunisolar calendar by arithmetic — the same arithmetic used for centuries. There is no guesswork in your chart. If two practitioners calculate your pillars, they get the same answer.

We interpret. The chart is raw structure. The reading explains what that structure emphasises — how you tend to decide, where your energy goes, which cycles you move through. Every claim in your reading traces back to a specific feature of your chart.

What we don't do

  • We don't predict events. We won't tell you a date on which something will happen.
  • We don't promise wealth, marriage, health or protection.
  • We don't sell remedies, amulets or cures.
  • We don't use fear. If a reading needs to frighten you to be valuable, it isn't.

Where the system comes from

The Four Pillars (BaZi) system organises the Chinese lunisolar calendar into eight characters — four stems and four branches — drawn from the year, month, day and hour of birth. Its vocabulary is the Five Elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water. Its logic is relationship and balance, not fate. That distinction is the whole point.

A note on birth times

If you don't know your hour of birth, we tell you so plainly and read three pillars instead of four. That is a legitimate classical method, and we mark it on the cover of your reading. We would rather be accurate about what we know than impressive about what we don't.

Honest limitations

Readings describe tendency, not certainty. Two people born minutes apart in different countries live different lives. Culture, choice and luck are real. What a good reading gives you is a better vocabulary for your own patterns — and a clearer view of the seasons you're in.
